boo at the zoo So, Halloween is coming.  Fall is finally here.  Those perfectly crisp days are great, but it is even better to spend them outside wandering around.  The perfect matchup is of course Brookfield Zoo’s fabulous animal habitats alongside Ferrara Candy Company stations.  Every Saturday and Sunday from October 13th to October 28th is full of fall fun with 3rd annual Boo at the Zoo!

Yes, there is the more traditional Halloween fan fare of trick or treat stations to fill up your own bag with candy.  Ferrara Candy Company has 10,000 pounds of donated candy including brand favorites like SweeTARTS®, Trolli®, Brach’s®, Black Forest®, Butterfinger®, Laffy Taffy®, CRUNCH®, Lemonhead® and more to sweeten your visit! Ferrara is also giving away 600 tickets to local families through the park districts in Forest Park, Bellwood, Maywood, Bolingbrook, Itasca, Franklin Park, Hillside and Northlake. Inquire at your local park district to get complimentary tickets while supplies last.

The animals are getting treats as well. You can watch as bears, dolphins, lemurs and more get pumpkins.  Ever wonder what a lemur thinks about pumpkins? Well now you can watch to see what happens!  Plus learn more about some of your more spooky animals with special keeper talks.  Find out about Halloween animals as you can ask the keepers all about spiders, bats, wolves and more.

More pumpkin fun can be had watching a professional pumpkin carver craft a masterpiece.  All day you can see them transform 1000+ pound pumpkins.  For the pumpkin haters, there are hourly pumpkin smashings.  Watch as those orange gourds are crushed to smithereens.

Don’t just wear your costume on Halloween.  Show it off at the zoo! Don’t miss out on the costume contest and costume parade.  Plus if you get tired after that costume parade you can enjoy the haunted hayride and the creepy cowboy carousel.  Brookfield Zoo definitely goes all out for Halloween.  You can celebrate during the daytime with the not-so-scary atmosphere. Perfect for families who want to enjoy their day with a few extra surprises!  For the adults, there is also specialty fall snacks at various locations.  Enjoy some fall Revolution brews including their Oktoberfest.

So, when you are considering going to a farm to enjoy the fall activities, head to Brookfield Zoo instead.  Boo at the Zoo has everything you want with none of the mess.  No muddy shoes or wandering through an endless field.  Every turn has a new fall feature or animal to enjoy.  I know we will be enjoying another great day at the zoo.  Plan your Boo at the Zoo visit here!
