I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Curb. I received a promotional code to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for participating.

Finding a taxi downtown can be a challenge. As a blogger, I don’t always know well in advance where my events will be and in what neighborhood they are located. So, knowing that I can use a free app for my Android device (also free for iPhone users) to find a reliable ride is one less detail to stress over.

I can have someone find me (or my smart phone) rather than having to find myself. Sure, I have the address of my event but I don’t always know where I am in the city. I can figure it out but unless I’m willing to scroll endlessly through a street view I wouldn’t always know the best walking route back to the train station.

September Lake Michigan View 44th Floor Most of the time though, I can’t walk to where I need to go. Either it’s too far or I’m just too strapped for time or wanting to catch the next train. Having to hail a cab while walking down the street is basically a losing venture. I have to walk awkwardly sticking my neck out to hopefully catch a glimpse of a cab that may or may not be willing to stop for me.

I’m glad that Curb has 4,000 taxis in Chicago (35,000 in 60 US cities) and all of them are vetted. They’re licensed and commercially insured with a thorough background check. Meaning at whatever hour my event ends in which I was probably tasting some alcohol that I don’t need to be concerned about anything bad happening. I know that there is an easy way to get back to the train station. I can book a ride and watch it arrive so I don’t have to stand around and I can spend those last few minutes networking and thanking my hosts instead of waiting hopelessly for a cab to happen to drive past.

With Curb I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to get a cab. I pulled up the app, entered the address of my event and my reserved cab showed up in about a minute. I mean it couldn’t honestly be easier. I didn’t have to try to juggle my purse, coat and camera in a dress and heels while trying to catch a cab’s attention. I also didn’t have to hike to the nearest hotel to catch a cab either. When you use Curb, they also send you the taxi number, so its easy to know which cab is yours. At my last event there were several people standing outside waiting on a called cab. I knew exactly when mine arrived and didn’t have to guess like the others waiting.

I highly recommend using Curb when you’re in the city. It’s definitely made heading to blogging events a heck of a lot easier.
