For the past few years, I have been lucky enough to attend the preview for the First Look For Charity Gala. I get to learn about which charities are benefitting this year and taste everything. Every year this event raises around $2 million for local charities. Last year they met the goal of $2 million and this year they hope to reach the same donor goal. Since 1992, $45 million has been raised through this annual gala. Mark your calendars for Friday, February 10th from 7-11 PM.
Everyone dons their finest formal wear to enjoy a night at the Chicago Auto Show. Not only is there live entertainment, food and drink, but also the chance to win 2 cars. Most of all, this year you can win a Lexus NX or an Acura TLX.
All while sampling bites from 40 different restaurants in the Chicago area. With over 140 chefs and 200,000 bites, the night pairs them up with 650 cases of beer, 285 cases of wine and 85 cases of champagne. Chicago does throw the best parties and this year’s First Look For Charity won’t disappoint.
So, here are some of my favorite bites from the preview. First of all, a petite ahi tuna poke bowl from Savor…Chicago (pictured at the top). Ruth’s Chris beef tenderloin skewers in a honey-soy marinade (pictured above). Real Urban BBQ has a delectable Piggy Mac with their award winning macaroni and cheese topped with pulled pork and homemade BBQ sauce (pictured below). Along with 4 signature cocktails, one of my favorites is the Cable Car with Sugar Island Spiced Rum, dry curacao and fresh lemon sour because you can’t go wrong with spiced rum.
